care instructions
Terrazzo table tops
Terrazzo was already used in ancient times and is now celebrating its big comeback with new applications. Our terrazzo is a high-quality artificial stone with only natural components: approx. 80% natural stone granulate ( marble, limestone or dolomite chippings), approx. 20% cement and water. The material properties are comparable to limestone and marble. The mixture is poured and pressed. It is then sanded to give it its typical surface appearance. This process can cause individual smaller grains to be torn out of the edges of the slabs, which can lead to rock breakouts, cavities and uneven edges. Defects and irregularities are part of this.
Terrazzo tiles are open-pored. Like all tiles made from natural materials, this tile - like natural stone, e.g. marble - is sensitive to acids. Therefore, it should not be treated with harsh acidic cleaners. Acidic foods (e.g. wine) should be removed from the tiles as soon as possible.
Traditionally, terrazzo tiles are cleaned with soft soap. The soft soap nourishes the floor with its moisturizing properties and allows a beautiful patina to develop over time. Coarser dirt can be removed with a "glitzi" sponge or with a so-called "cleaning stone".
Our terrazzo tiles are impregnated with stone oil; re-impregnation is no longer necessary.
Note: Failure to follow the care instructions will void the warranty!
linoleum table tops
Linoleum consists of the natural, renewable raw materials linseed oil, resins, wood and limestone flour, as well as natural color pigments.
Loose dirt can be removed with dust-binding cloths.
To remove light soiling, use some hand washing liquid (PH-neutral) and water and wipe with a soft, wringed cloth.
For stubborn dirt, add a suitable linoleum cleaner to the water (neutral cleaner or special cleaner with a pH value of < 9, e.g. "Harell" cleaning and care set for linoleum ). Soak a soft cloth in the cleaning solution and, wringing it out well, wipe the linoleum surface clean.
We advise against using a care set, as these usually contain oil and cause unsightly shiny spots on your table top.
Flower pots and tubs made of terracotta, clay or metal (rust) can leave discoloration on linoleum, please use suitable coasters.
Hand and equipment disinfectants can cause stains due to their high solvent content. If the linoleum surface needs to be disinfected, please only use surface disinfectants suitable for linoleum and test them on a sample piece or an inconspicuous area beforehand.
Please do not use cleaning agents containing solvents such as white spirit, acetone or nail polish remover as these will damage the surface.
