The Croissant Sofa and Lounge Chair by Danish architect and designer Illum Wikkelsø (1919-1999) represent an elegant and playful interpretation of the traditional typology of the Chesterfield sofa and club chair. Wikkelsø believed that a chair is not just for sitting upright, but that it should be comfortable at whatever angle you sit - or even lie down - at. He redefined these classic pieces for a more relaxed audience that emerged in the optimism of the 1960s.

The distinctive "croissant" shape reflects the same ingenuity and sense of humor that saw him attach a sail to his bicycle as a child to travel faster. The Croissant lounge chair works well alone or in pairs as a "fireside chair" and in various settings such as a members' club, workspace or hotel lobby.
